Catherine Lawes – Talk – Designing and Creating a piece of wearable art

September 17 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
£6.00

Catherine was born and raised in New Zealand but has spent most of her life living in the UK.

Sewing has always been a big part of her life, her mother made all their clothes when they were young and then Catherine took over from the age of 11. Her father had been a Master Tailor in London pre and after WW1.

After leaving architecture behind she found her passion in Textile Art. She has been creating, exhibiting and teaching this for nearly 25 years in the UK and NZ, teaching at the Knitting and Stitching Shows and Festival of Quilts and other shows and to groups around the country.

Catherine specialises in one off wall hangings, textile pictures and garments made to commission and for sale.

In this talk Catherine will describe her journey in sewing, making clothes for herself and into creating pieces of Wearable Art. Looking at the inspirations for each piece and how she creates them.

The talk is free to members of Textile Explorers
Doors open at 7pm, Sales table and free refreshments available
