In her talk, Batool will show how she transforms her materials into artists books and mixed media wall pieces, using different techniques and processes to explore issues of identity, struggle and rise of women and displacement.
About the Artist
Batool Showghi was born in Iran and moved to England in 1985. Received a merit for MA in Design & Media Arts from the University of Westminster in 1997 just after finishing her BA honors. Worked as a part time lecturer until 2016.
Her work can be found at: The Tate Britain, British Library, The Royal Navy Museum in Portsmouth, the Museum of Art and Literature, Yerevan, Armenia, Middlesex University, Thames Valley and Canterbury University, and in many private collections. Batool’s artwork is regularly exhibited at the Jaggedart gallery in London. Her recent works were shown at The Knitting and Stitching shows 2023 at Alexandra Palace and in Harrogate and most recently at Collect 2024 at Somerset House.
