DESCRIPTION:Workshop content\nCreative Goldwork – Discover a creative approach to goldwork embroidery. Hanny will show you how you can open up a world of possibilities to experiment with and explore within this centuries old art form whatever your stitching experience. This workshop gives embroiderers of all backgrounds the opportunity to get creative and explore the possibilities of goldwork techniques of couching with metal threads and chipping / cut work with metal purls. \nThroughout the workshop you will build up your own unique series of hand embroidery samples\, interpreting the kit designs provided in your own unique way. \nHanny’s goldwork embroidery workshops are a balance of technique and experimentation\, leaving plenty of ‘breathing space’ for artists to find their own response to the historical techniques of goldwork. \nAbout the Tutor\nHanny is known for her contemporary approach to goldwork embroidery. Since studying at the Royal School of Needlework (2011-13) she has been fascinated by the inherent qualities of metal threads\, and has a deep belief in the importance of innovation and self expression to keeping crafts alive. She teaches her contemporary approach to goldwork at internationally\, including the Hand & Lock London\, The British Museum\, West Dean College and the Australian Design Centre\, Sydney. \nMaterials List\nHanny will provide a kit on the day at a cost of £18p/p – payable directly to her.\nThe kit includes:\nGold\, silver & copper passing threads\nGold\, silver & copper bright check purl\nNeedles\nBeeswax\nA choice of 4 fabric designs\, chosen on the day. \nIn addition\, participants should bring\n1 or 2 Embroidery hoops – 6” or 8”\nSharp\, fine tipped embroidery scissors\,\nEmbroidery stand (such as a seat or clamp stand) – optional\, but will make stitching more pleasurable \nBooking Terms and Conditions:\nThe fee is non-refundable if you cancel (unless another person can take your place.)\nWe occasionally have a waiting list for a workshop and if that is the case your place would be offered to the next person on the list.
