Vicki Parsons – Workshop – Introduction to Goldwork

Free – £20.00Vicki has stitched for many years and has completed both the Certificate and Diploma at the Royal School of Needlework (RSN).
In this hand stitching workshop you will learn to work with metal threads to create a simple geometric design that can be framed or used to create a book cover. We will cover couching stitches, working with a variety of metal threads including Jap, Purl purl, Rococo, check thread and bright check as well as applying felt padding and leather. No previous experience of working with metal threads is necessary.
Vicki will supply a kit for £7, payable on the day, containing all the threads and materials you will need. Please let Vicki know what colour base fabric you would like by emailing chair@texgroup.org.uk by Thursday 31st Jan
You will need to bring the following – sharp pointed embroidery scissors, old sharp scissors to cut the metal threads, tweezers, 6” or 8” hoop, hoop stand if you have one, light/magnifier if you need one.
Please bring your own lunch. Tea / coffee and biscuits/ cake will be provided.
NB. All electrical equipment you bring to the workshop, MUST have a current PAT certificate.

The fee is non-refundable if you cancel (unless another person can take your place.)
We occasionally have a waiting list for a workshop and if that is the case your place would be offered to the next person on the list. If there isn’t a waiting list then you might know someone who could take your place.
